Jussie Smollett’s role in ‘Empire’ slashed over claims that he staged his attack
Jussie Smollett’s role in hit TV series, “Empire” has reportedly been slashed in the wake of allegations that he staged his alleged homophobic and racist attack.
Smollett better known as Jamal Lyon was supposed to have nine scenes and a big musical number in the second to the last episode, which is being shot now but five of his scenes have been cut and his musical number has been cancelled.
It is also learned that for the remaining four scenes, he is no longer the focus. The scene features an ensemble, meaning he is flanked by a number of cast members.
Not only that, TMZ also reports that with his duties pared down, Smollett will be spending way less time on set. Instead of working every day this week, he will be working Friday and possibly Thursday, and he won’t be rehearsing.
WuzpNiaj reports that the police believe Smollett rehearsed the “attack” with the two Nigerian brothers. A grand jury is set to hear evidence soon, and potential indictment against Smollett could be forthcoming.
