Jungle Justice: Mob allegedly beat man to death on Christmas day for robbing, raping lady

An alleged thief and rapist has been beaten to death by an angry mob in Calabar, Cross River State after he allegedly robbed and raped a girl on Christmas day.
Two other members of his gang are said to have escaped the mob.
The incident is said to have occurred in the early hours of Wednesday along Ekong Etta Street by Okoro Agbor as eyewitnesses revealed the girl’s scream attracted people who came to her rescue after she had been robbed and raped.
“The mob chased the suspects and caught up with one while two others escaped. They beat him to death,” one of the eyewitnesses said.
The victim was thrown into a waste bin close to a church where he later died.
When contacted, the State Police Command Public Relations Officer, DSP Irene Ugbo said, “I am not aware of such incident. I will find out.”
