Inmate who fled Edo prison during EndSARS protest rearrested for kidnapping

The Edo State Police Command has rearrested Oliver Jamker, one of the inmates who escaped from Oko correctional facility in Benin during the 2020 #EndSARS protest.

Jamker was allegedly nabbed in a failed abduction attempt.

The Command in a press statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, Bello Kantongos, in Benin confirmed the development.

Kantongos added that the Ugbowo Division of the Command led by the Divisional Police Officer, Albert Udeme, received information about the operation of some hoodlums, who allegedly kidnapped four victims and their men moved into action and rescued the victims.

The statement partly reads;

“On the 29/12/2021 at 1430hrs operatives of the Edo State Police Command through Ugbowo division led by the Divisional police officer, Albert Udeme received information that hoodlums suspected to be kidnappers have kidnapped kelvin Omonedo ‘M’ , Adeleke Wasiu ‘M’ at Olienhen Street and proceeded to ukhumwem Road in Benin City, where they also kidnapped the duo of Irene Edenabuohen ‘F’ and Rosemary Ojegue ‘F’.

“On receipt of the information, police operatives from the division immediately swung into action, trailed and engaged the hoodlums in a gun duel, the superior fire power of the team of operatives made the hoodlums to abandon the (4) victims and arrested one of the suspects name Oliver Jamker ‘M’ of Ughelli, Delta state also an escapee from Oko Corectional center during the #EndSARS protest of 2020. Efforts is ongoing to arrest the fleeing gang members.”
