A suspected fraudster, Olugbemi Benjamin, was on Thursday arraigned in a Magistrates’ Court in Ilorin for allegedly scamming an 89-year-old man of N130,000.

The prosecution counsel, Insp Zacchaeus Folorunsho, told the court that the matter was reported by the complainant, Mrs. Kemi Amodu who is also the daughter of the victim, Mr. Simeon Joel.
Folorunsho alleged that the defendant sometime in February, defrauded Joel, who suffered memory loss.
He said that the defendant deceived Joel into giving him N130,000 with a promise to make him a millionaire in three months.
The defence counsel, A.S Jimba prayed the court to grant his client bail in most liberal terms.
The prosecutor, however, said the investigation is ongoing and urged the court not to grant the defendant bail.
However in his ruling, Magistrate Adam Bello, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N100, 000 and two sureties in like sum.
Bello adjourned the matter until April 19 for further mention.
