Nigerian singer and songwriter, Tiwatope Omolara Savage popularly known as Tiwa Savage, has disclosed that she has no intentions of signing upcoming artists, citing the immense pressure and challenges that come with managing musicians.
Speaking in an interview with Forbes Africa on Thursday, the Afrobeats star explained that handling artists can be overwhelming, and she does not believe she is suited for the role of a talent manager.
“Everyone always asks me, ‘When will you sign an artiste?’ I don’t think I have the gift to sign another artiste, because artistes are stressful. I could just be sleeping, and then I will wake up and my artist is trending for something else,” she said.
Rather than signing musicians under her label, Savage revealed that she is focused on creating opportunities for young talents through alternative means.
She is working on establishing a music school where aspiring artists can refine their skills before signing with record labels that can properly support them.
“But I do have the gift to help, which is why I am trying to do the music school, where you can go and later sign to a label that can actually help you,” she added.
