We have heard about police officers illegally arresting people on the street, raiding a house to arrest people. In Osun state it was reported three years ago that police detained goats, but what do we make of police arresting a television set? Yes, a television set.

A Nigerian man took to Twitter on Thursday to narrate via his handle @TROUBLEMAKERPhd what looks like a hilarious story of how he stopped visiting Delta state.

He said his decision is not unconnected with the illegal harassment of citizens by police in the state and the strange ‘arrest’ of his pastor’s television set when police visited his home.

He wondered why police would remove a TV from the home of his pastor who they had visited to interrogate over the arrest of a suspected cultist who is a member of his church.

@TROUBLEMAKERPhd was responding to a post by another Twitter user Harrison Gwamnishu who had alleged via his handle @HarrisonBbi18 that the Delta state police commissioner called to insult him following his facebook post condemning the activities of the police in the state.

Harrison wrote:

“This morning, I wrote on Facebook calling the attention of Delta CP over thousands of complaints against his men who are out to extort, harass vulnerable Nigerians. Behold he called me an hour ago and was mad at me.”

@TROUBLEMAKERPhd who corroborated Harrison’s claims in his response to the post said he stopped visiting the state since the police ‘arrested’ his pastor’s TV and asked him to provide the receipt before it is released.

He wrote;

“I no longer go to that state because the police there are worse than what y’all see happening in Lagos. They even went to my pastor’s house in Abraka and just took his TV away that he must bring receipt, the receipt is nowhere to be found! They refused to release the tv

“I’ve never in my life is police arrest a television. They claim one of the church members is a cultist so they took him to the pastor’s house and took his tv away.

“Yes! The tv is still with them! They came to question the pastor, next thing they pulled the tv from the wall and arrested it.”
