Nigerian stand-up comedian and actor, Bovi Ugboma, on Wednesday narrated how he survived the scare of being tagged a criminal in aN undisclosed London hotel.
The 42-year-old made the revelation in a series of Instagram stories where he claimed the ‘Tinder Swindler’ netflix documentary seemed to be putting people on the edge.
The Tinder Swindler featured a con man, Simon Leviev, known for Ponzi scheme and internet scam.
Leviev, the subject of the Netflix’s new documentary was banned from dating apps like Tinder and Hinge after the filmmakers alleged he had scammed several women of an estimated $10 million.
According to Bovi, he was trying to check into a hotel in London and on arrival, he was asked to present the card he used in booking the room.
The comedian noted that he made it clear to the hotel management that it was his wife who helped to book the reservation using her card in Nigeria.
Rather than calm their frayed nerves, the mere mention of ‘Nigeria’ further escalate the crisis as the officials thought he was trying hard to swindle the original owner of the card.
Bovi said that the matter became worse when the machine rejected his own card declined.
