Nigerian singer and businessman Oluwatosin Ajibade, popularly known as Mr Eazi, has revealed that his latest song was partly motivated by the need to raise money for his house rent abroad.
According to TheCable, the singer made the disclosure during a recent Twitch livestream with Nigerian content creator Okikidft, where he discussed his lifestyle and the expensive neighbourhood in which he resides.
Mr Eazi explained that despite his success in music and business, he still needed to earn money to cover his living expenses.
Mr Eazi opens up about paying rent abroad
Speaking in Pidgin English, the singer said he released his latest single, Comfort, to help raise money for his rent.
“I still dey find rent. I wan pay rent, na why I even drop this song,” he said.
The musician clarified that he was referring to his residence abroad rather than his home in Lagos.
He explained that his neighbourhood is home to wealthy and prominent personalities, including Formula One drivers, professional tennis players and international footballers.
Mr Eazi speaks on living among celebrities
The singer disclosed that French footballer Paul Pogba is among the prominent personalities he occasionally encounters in his neighbourhood.
He expressed gratitude for his achievements, explaining that he never imagined living in such an exclusive environment earlier in his career.
Mr Eazi also described the residents as private individuals who generally keep to themselves.
His remarks have generated reactions on social media, with some Nigerians questioning why the successful musician continues to rent rather than purchase a property.
Others suggested that renting in an expensive neighbourhood does not necessarily indicate financial difficulties.
Mr Eazi’s new song features MOLIY
The singer’s latest single, Comfort, features Ghanaian-American musician MOLIY.
Produced by Nigerian producer Ragee, the song combines Afrobeats, dancehall and R&B influences.
Beyond his music career, Mr Eazi has established himself as an entrepreneur with investments in several African countries.
He is a co-founder of PawaPay, a financial technology company, and the founder of emPawa Africa, a music company supporting African artistes.
The singer previously disclosed that his business investments span 19 African countries.
Mr Eazi married actress and fashion entrepreneur Temi Otedola, daughter of billionaire businessman Femi Otedola, in 2025.
His comments about paying rent have since attracted attention across entertainment platforms, although he did not disclose the amount of his rent or suggest that he was facing a financial crisis.
