I didn’t ask Supreme Court to declare me Imo governor – Uche Nwosu

The governorship candidate of the Action Alliance in the March 2019 governorship election in Imo State, Uche Nwosu, has debunked reports in some sections of the media that he had approached the Supreme Court to declare him governor in place of Senator Hope Uzodinma of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Nwosu, a son-in-law to former governor Rochas Okorocha, who had since returned to the APC stated this while addressing newsmen in Abuja on Friday.

He said reports in some sections of the media that he was planning to take advantage of a previous ruling in his favour, was not correct.

The Supreme Court had in December last year, ruled that Nwosu had dual nominations from both the AA and the APC.

The Supreme Court, on Tuesday, however, declared Uzodinma, of the APC, winner of the Imo governorship election.

Nwosu said he didn’t make any attempt to claim the victory at the apex court.

He described the report as,

“mischievous, false and a handiwork of desperate elements who are discomfited over the new found sense of reconciliation and peace within the party.

He said,

“It is obvious that some elements are still living in the past, but I and indeed all my followers and supporters are looking into the future with assurances of a brighter hope for Imo State.

“If for nothing else, the emergence of Senator Hope Uzodimma has reenergized the Party and brought all members of the APC in Imo State on the same page.”

He also restated his resolve to contribute whatever he can to the progress of the Hope Uzodimma administration as well as towards revitalizing the Party.

He said,

“I did not run for governorship of Imo State out of desperation, but out of my motivation to render service to the people of Imo State and make life more prosperous and fulfilling for them.

“Now that His Excellency Senator Hope Uzodimma is there, I believe he will do his best to implement the progressive manifestoes and people oriented ideologies of our Party.

“What we all owe him is our support and whenever my input is needed, I will happily make my inputs without reservations.

Nwosu also advised all Imo State stakeholders to bury their hatchets and buy into the vision of the new governor towards helping the State move forward.
