A family source told Channels Television on Wednesday that the 75-year-old woman, Hajiya Hauwa’u Adamu, was freed after 18 days in captivity.
Hajiya Hauwa’u Adamu was taken by bandits on June 28, 2024, from her home in Kahutu village, Danja Local Government Area of Katsina State. Her health worsened due to the abduction, and she was diagnosed with high blood pressure.
The news of her release brought wild jubilation in Kahutu village.
In the wake of the abduction, police authorities in Katsina State arrested two suspects for questioning.
The Katsina Police Command’s spokesman, Abubakar Sadiq, said, “Upon receipt of the report, promptly, the DPO Danja led a team of operatives to the scene with a view to arresting the culprits and unhurt rescue of the victim. During the investigation, two suspects were arrested for questioning. Further development will be communicated in due course as the investigation proceeds.”
