Some bandits suspected to be kidnappers were reported to have attacked three villages in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State, killing seven persons and injuring several others.

The villages include Akwunakwo, Kabirasha and Damba, all in the LG.

Also, in one of the. villages the Southern Kaduna Peoples Union [SOKAPU] alleged that a soldier paid the supreme price while repelling bandits during an attack.

The SOKAPU’s National Public Relations Officer, Luka Binniyat said in a statement released in Kaduna on Friday.

“Yesterday, Thursday, 23rd April, 2020, Akwunakwo village, near Gwagwada in Chikun LGA, was attacked. We are informed that a soldier was killed and one other native of the village.

“In the course of the violence being unleashed on Akunakwo, residents of nearby Kabrasha village fled. When the invaders arrived the village, they found a dumb and deaf man who was unaware of what was going on and abducted him, after looting the village.

“The wanton waste of precious lives in Southern Kaduna communities by armed herdsmen continued last night, 23rd April,” Binniyat said.

Our correspondent learnt that the heavily armed men spent several hours during the attack and abducted one person and left five others seriously injured.

Some of the injured victims were taken to Sabon Tasha General Hospital in the metropolis.

President of Gbagyi Development Union (GDU), Peter Aboki said the attackers invaded the three villages om Thursday at about 4:00pm and operated freely for several hours unchallenged.

“The attack started in Akwunakwo in the early hours of Thursday, two people were killed. The herdsmen then moved to the neighbouring Kabirasha village.

“I have not received information about any casualty there, except the abduction of a deaf and dumb person by the invaders.

“This is because by the time the gunmen got there, the villagers had fled following news of the attack on Kwunakwo.
“Damba village was attacked at about 4:00pm and five people were killed. We suspect that the attack was by the same people,” he said.

According to Aboki, the bandits burnt houses, foodstuffs and vehicles during the attacks on the villages.

Meanwhile, the SOKAPU alleged that in less than 48 hours, gunmen reigned havoc on Southern Kaduna Community.

The group said the attack was more devastating than the deadly COVID-19 pandemic ravaging the world.
