Gunmen kill worshippers in Niger Mosque, abduct seven others
The Niger State Police Command said gunmen had killed an unspecified number of people observing morning prayers in a mosque at Mazakuka village in Mashegu Local Government Area.
The State Commissioner of Police, Mr Monday Kuryas, confirmed the development on Monday.
Kuryas further disclosed that the hoodlums abducted seven other worshipers at the mosque.
He said the incident occurred on October 25 about 5.30 pm when the gunmen attacked the village.
The commissioner said the gunmen subsequently destroyed property worth millions of naira belonging to one Alhaji Abubakar Maigandus in the village.
He said security personnel, however, shot dead one of the bandits.
