Gunmen kill Chinese police escort, driver in Abia
Some suspected gunmen have killed a policeman and a driver attached to a Chinese national during a robbery on Friday in Umuahia, the Abia State capital.
The PUNCH reported that the victims were attacked during a heist along Mission Hill Road at a spot where the office of the Nigeria Correctional Service is located.
A source revealed that the Chinese national was trailed by the assailants from Umuahia Cosmopolitan Area before opening fire on them at the scene of the incident.
The story was corroborated by the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Geoffrey Ogbonna, who said that the hoodlums had allegedly trailed the Chinese from a commercial Bank where he went to make a withdrawal.
However, the source’s account read: “The incident in Umuahia was over a white man that came out from a bank who was trailed to mission hill near prisons headquarters Umuahia.
“The white man was robbed of his cash, the policemen guarding him was killed and his was driver shot on the leg. The army came around to carry their corpse.”
