Guardiola blasts Arsenal days after FA Cup semi-final defeat
Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, has said he does not have respect for Arsenal’s behaviour off the pitch.
City’s senior officials have been frustrated with the behaviour of the Gunners this season.
First in their approach for Mikel Arteta, who was Guardiola’s assistant, in December and also with their suspected role in a letter from Premier League rivals to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) during their appeal over UEFA’s two-year European ban.
Arsenal on Saturday defeated City 2-0 in the FA Cup semi-final and although Guardiola says he is impressed by Arteta’s team, he was not happy with their antics in other areas.
“After we were beaten we shake hands. The opponents always deserve my respect and credit.
“And Arsenal, I have all the respect for what they are on the pitch, not much off the pitch – but on the pitch, a lot. Congratulations to them and good luck in the final,” Guardiola told a news conference on Monday.
City visit Watford on Tuesday, before finishing their Premier League season against relegated Norwich City.
