The Parents Teachers’ Association in Kaduna State has appealed to bandits to extend the execution ultimatum it set for the remaining 17 students of Greenfield University to afford them time to raise the ransom.
Recall that the abductors invaded and kidnapped at least 23 students, including a staff of the privately-owned university on April 20, 2021.
Few days after the abduction, five students were executed when the concerned parents and state government failed to raise the requested ransom.
While the Kaduna State Government remained adamant that it won’t be arm-twisted into paying the ransom, the bandits had vowed to kill the remaining 17 students if their demands are not met by Tuesday (today).
According to the PUNCH, the bandits had sworn that the authorities would pick the dead bodies of the remaining 17 – 15 female and two male students – from the forest if they don’t meet their demands.
However, the National President of the association, Haruna Danjuma, while addressing the press on Tuesday, urged the bandits to spare the lives of the students, adding that they are innocent.
“We were shocked and unhappy with the bandits’ threat on the radio that all our remaining Greenfield University students will be killed if N100 million and ten motorcycles were not given to them (bandits) today (Tuesday).
“We are simply begging them not to kill any other students in view of the fact that they are innocents.
“The deadline is really worrisome and as parents, we are all concerned and worried over the lives of our students and teachers of the green field university,” he said
