Ondo State Governor, Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has ordered the rehabilitation of the alternative road leading into Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko.

This decision came after he visited the university to address some of the challenges faced by students.

Aiyedatiwa made the announcement during an unscheduled visit to the university.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Olugbenga Ige, showed the governor the main gate and the alternative road used by the university community.

The alternative road has been in use because the main gate was closed due to frequent accidents.

Prof. Ige told the governor that previous attempts to repair the road had failed, and the university management had opened more routes to help staff and students commute more easily.

After seeing the situation firsthand, Governor Aiyedatiwa instructed the Ministry of Infrastructure to start repairing the road. He also promised that his administration would develop plans to improve both infrastructure and security around the university.

Aiyedatiwa explained, “There have been several accidents near the university because of the road’s condition. Trucks and lorries often lose control and crash into the school gate, causing tragic loss of lives.”

He continued, “We are working on creating alternative routes for heavy vehicles, which will be included in our budget. Our aim is to improve safety and the quality of life for the university community, which includes over 20,000 students. We are committed to providing the needed infrastructure and amenities to support them.”
