GOOD NEWS: Rigobert Song wakes up after reportedly suffering stroke (photos)

Latest reports inform that Cameroonian football legend Rigobert Song is reportedly out of his coma after suffering a stroke on Sunday.

Sources close to his family say the former Liverpool and West Ham defender has been transported to France for further medical treatment. He was flown to France on Monday evening.

It was understood that Cameroon’s government has released $100k for the treatment of former Indomitable Lions skipper abroad.

The 40-year-old, who is the head coach of the Chad senior national team, was in serious condition after suffering a stroke before being submitted to a hospital in Yaounde on Sunday.

It was reported he collapsed at his home in Odza neighbourhood in Yaounde and was unconscious when he arrived at the hospital. But latest reports say he was no longer on a ventilator and breathed normally and without assistance.

Minister Secretary General of the Presidency of the Republic reportedly visited Song at his bedside ahead of his transfer to France.
