France international striker, Olivier Giroud, has said goodbye to Chelsea ahead of his transfer to Serie A giant, AC Milan.
The former Arsenal striker had his medicals in Milan on Friday after both teams reached an agreement on Giroud’s transfer worth around €2m (€1m as a guaranteed fee, €1m as add on).
WuzupNigeria, quoting Fabrizio Romano, reports that all paperwork concerning Giroud’s transfer from the European Champions to San Siro has been completed and the Frenchman would soon be unveiled as a Milan player after the medicals.
Giroud who was part of France’s team that finished the EURO 2020 Championship in the Round of 16 after a defeat to Switzerland bid farewell to Chelsea via his Twitter handle.
“To all the Blues, to my teammates, to all my coaches, to the whole club, a huge thank you for these special moments.
“I’m starting a new journey with a light and happy heart. Our victories in Fa Cup, Europa League and Champions League have been magnificent,” he said.
Recall that Rossoneri’s director, Paolo Maldini, confirmed the player’s arrival: “Yes, [Giroud] should arrive tomorrow. Olivier is a champion and a fresh winner of the Champions League. He is a very reliable player, what we were looking for since we need experienced players like him. We are the youngest team in Serie A.”
