Gas explosion rocks Lagos community

A massive gas explosion has rocked Iju-Ishaga in Lagos State, causing a huge fire with the full extent of the damage yet to be determined.
Emergency responders are on the scene to contain and extinguish the flames.
The explosion has raised concerns about potential casualties and structural damage in the vicinity.
This explosion comes days after a similar occurrence in the Lekki area of the state and weeks after a gas explosion rocked the Ibadan community, leading to the loss of lives and properties.
The incident adds to the growing challenges faced by local authorities in managing industrial and safety issues within densely populated urban areas. Updates on the situation are awaited as response teams work to bring the situation under control and assess the impact on the community.
Ibrahim Farinloye, Territorial Coordinator of the National Emergency Management Agency confirmed the incident, urging the Iju Ishaga residents to calm down and avoid panic.
Farinloye said the gas explosion at Oguns Street, Balogun Bus stop and that it had been brought under complete control by officials of the Lagos State Fire Service.
“It was reported that a store with cooking gas cylinder exploded. It occurred the restoration of electricity to the area.
Fire Service have brought the situation under control completely,” he said.
