FRSC condoles with families of Onitsha-Awka crash victims

The Federal Road Safety Corps Marshal, Dr. Boboye Oyeyemi, has condoled with the families of the victims of a road accident that occurred along the Onitsha-Awka Expressway in Anambra State on Friday.

In a statement signed by the FRSC’s Public Relations Officer, Bisi Kazeem, Oyeyemi said he was deeply saddened by the loss of lives in the crash and also expressed his sympathy to the injured victims and wished them a speedy recovery.

The crash at the Odumodu Junction by Nteje involved a Mitsubishi L300 commercial bus with registration number XE 245 AWK and a DAF Leyland Truck with registration number T-19094 LA. Five persons were reported to have died in the crash.

Oyeyemi commended the FRSC response team for their swift response to the accident. He also called on commercial vehicle operators to exercise caution and be conscious of their driving surroundings. He urged them to avoid driving against the stipulated speed limit on all roads.

We must all work together to eradicate all incidences of road mishap arising from impatience and lack of mental alertness when on wheels,” Kazeem said.

The FRSC has also deployed its personnel to the accident scene to clear the debris and ensure a smooth traffic flow.

The Corps Marshal urged motorists to cooperate with the FRSC officials and obey all traffic rules and regulations. He also advised them to drive safely and avoid overloading their vehicles.
