The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Lagos State Command, on Monday advised the newly promoted 134 officers and men in the state not to disappoint the board and management of the corps.

Addressing the officers and men, Mr Hyginus Omeje, the Sector Commander, said that no officer should be found wanting in his or her duty post, as the reward for hard work is more work.

“Promotion is a call to higher duty; the reward of this promotion is more hard work. We expect you to do more as your job schedule changes to higher responsibility. You are expected to excel in these new jobs.

“This is about increasing the capacity of the FRSC personnel. I know you will not disappoint the management.

“I want to use this opportunity to appeal to you that these higher ranks that you are wearing demands higher responsibility.

“You must be ready to live up to the ranks you are wearing. Every rank has a responsibility attached to it in terms of public conduct,” he said.

Also speaking, Mr Samuel Obayemi, the FRSC’s Zonal Commanding Officer in charge of Lagos and Ogun states said that a number of officers and men sat for the exam, but those decorated were the fortunate ones who scaled through.

Obayemi, an Assistant Corps Marshal, said that the corps was proud of the newly promoted and decorated officers and men.

“This is a call to more commitment to work. It is assumed that this promotion will encourage you to do more,” Obayemi said.

One of the promoted officers, Mrs Olabisi Sonusi, the Sector Head of Public Education, FRSC, Lagos, who could not hide her joy, said that she would not rest on her oars in justifying her new rank.

Sonusi, promoted from the rank of Deputy Route Commander (DRC) to Route Commander (RC), said:

“This is telling me that I have higher responsibility and that I must brace up for it.

“With this new rank that I got, I know that it is more work for me. I will double and triple my efforts.

“I must assure Nigerians that I will not rest on my oars, I will do more because to whom much is given, much is also expected.”

Mr Azeez Adele, promoted from Route Commander (RC) to Superintendent Route Commander (SRC), told newsmen that the promotion was long awaited and he would not disappoint the management.

“The last time I was promoted was in 2015, but to the glory of God, after the ups and downs, exams here and there, I am promoted today. It is worthy of celebration.

“With this new rank, the management should expect more from me, I will be more dedicated, committed and I will uphold the allegiance that I swore to FRSC in 2007. I just have to be up and doing,” he said.

Mrs Daisy Isiofa, another officer promoted to Chief Route Commander, (CRC), commended the Corps Marshal of FRSC, promising to give her best.

Also, Mr Vincent Mbawuike told newsmen that the promotion was a way of recognising efforts being put into the system and to encourage officers.

Newsmen report that 78 officers and 56 men of the corps from Zone RS 2 and RS 2.1, Lagos Sector Command were promoted and decorated with their new ranks in the presence of their family members.
