French police arrest five suspected female terrorists
No fewer than five women suspected of planning a terrorist attack have been arrested by the French police, judicial sources said on Sunday.
Investigators reportedly focused on one of the five women in particular, as the other four, including a minor, are members of her family.
The women were arrested on Saturday evening in the southern town of Béziers.
Police feared the women were planning to carry out a violent attack in Montpellier, according to Le Point newspaper.
Women are known to have radical Islamist beliefs, according to the report.
This was, however, not confirmed by the prosecution and no other basic information was initially available.
In recent years, more than 250 people have been killed in Islamist attacks in France, which has seen several terrorist incidents over the past year.
