A fire has destroyed a six-room residential bungalow at Ifedapo Estate in the Amuloko area of Ibadan, Oyo State, causing losses worth millions of naira.
The Oyo State Fire Services Agency Chairman, Maroof Akinwande, disclosed this in a statement on Saturday. He said the agency received a distress call at 2:53 p.m. on Friday and immediately deployed firefighters led by ACFS Amoo to the scene.
“Upon arrival, it was a bungalow of six rooms engulfed by fire, and our officers swiftly got into action and prevented the fire from spreading to neighbouring buildings,” Akinwande stated.
No casualties were recorded. The blaze was attributed to a domestic gas cylinder that was left unattended and exploded, spreading through the building.
“Properties worth millions of naira were destroyed by the fire,” the chairman added.
He urged the public to promptly alert the fire service and provide accurate addresses during emergencies.
This incident follows the agency’s earlier disclosure that Oyo State recorded about 246 fire incidents in 2025, with rescue operations saving 42 lives and recovering 30 bodies.
