A major fire outbreak has razed the old terminal of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos.

A source familiar with developments at the facility disclosed on Monday that the blaze began at about 3:30 p.m., although the cause of the incident had yet to be determined as of the time of filing this report.

The old terminal is currently undergoing renovation by the Federal Government.

It was further gathered that the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), alongside other emergency response units, had been deployed to the scene to battle the fire.

The Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection at the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Henry Agbebire, confirmed the development.

Agbebire stated that FAAN firefighters were actively responding to the situation and working to contain the flames.

He added: “No loss of life has been recorded. Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.”

Authorities said the cause of the fire had not yet been established.
