Fire razes Karimu market in Abuja
The popular Karimu market in Abuja has been gutted by fire with properties worth millions of naira brought to ruins.
In a viral video posted by the Nation, residents of the area could be seen salvaging whatever they could from the burnt shops, as sighted.
An eyewitness said that the fire, which started around 8pm on Tuesday, raged on for over two hours before men of the Fire Service arrived.
An inconsolable shop owner said he just stocked earlier in the day before the fire but everything was razed down.
Another shop owner, who simply identified himself as John, said all his goods were burnt.
An eyewitness, Amaka Oluchukwu, said the inferno started from a spark in one of the shops after many shop owners had left the market.
