FG levels fresh terrorism charges against Nnamdi Kanu

The Federal Government, on Monday, amended the terrorism charges levelled against the embattled leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu.

Recall that Kanu who has been in detention since his alleged abduction from Kenya and illegal extradition to Nigeria initially faced five counts of terrorism.

WuzupNigeria reported in October 2021 that the IPOB leader who appeared before a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, presided by Justice Binta Nyako, had his charges increased to seven, bordering on treasonable felony and terrorism.

However, The PUNCH on Monday, January 17, reported that the government has amended the charges against Kanu again.

Kanu now faces 15 amended counts of treasonable felony marked FHC/ABJ/CR/383/2015 and signed by the Director of Public Prosecution, DPP, M. B. Abubakar.

This is coming less than 24 hours to the scheduled commencement of hearing by trial Justice Nyako.
