FG apologizes to corps members for poor camp conditions

Published

The Federal Government has apologized to corps members across the country for the deplorable condition of National Youth Service Corps camps.

The Minister of State for Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, expressed dismay at the current conditions of some of the camps and pledged to work with all relevant authorities to ensure significant improvements.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, Olawande stated, “The condition of some of our camps is unacceptable. We acknowledge this and are taking steps to rectify it.”

The minister’s apology comes following a visit to the NYSC orientation camp at Yikpata, Kwara State, where he witnessed firsthand the poor conditions of the camp facilities.

During his visit, Olawande also interacted with corps members, raising their spirits and purchasing food items for them from the Mami market.

He also met with the State Coordinator of NYSC in Kwara State, Mr. Onifade Olaoluwa, who expressed his appreciation for the minister’s commitment to improving the NYSC.

The Federal Government has earlier stated its commitment to improving the conditions of NYSC camps. In addition to the minister’s apology, the government has also released funds for the renovation and upgrade of camp facilities.
