A 300-level Computer Science student at Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University in Bauchi, Naja’atu Salisu, has died after being found unconscious in a bathroom at the university.

The incident occurred on Friday morning at the Gubi campus female hostel. Naja’atu, who was preparing for her lectures, entered the bathroom for a shower but was later discovered lying unconscious on the bathroom floor.

A roommate, who wished to remain anonymous, said, “She had completed her morning routine and left her clothes on the side of her bed. She went into the bathroom as usual, but we found her unconscious later.”

ATBU Spokesperson, Zailani Bappa, confirmed the event and said, “Naja’atu was rushed to the university clinic for medical attention. Unfortunately, the medical staff could not find a vein on her body. She was then taken to the Trauma Centre of the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, where she was pronounced dead by doctors.”

Bappa also mentioned that Naja’atu had been buried according to Islamic rites, and prayers were offered for the repose of her soul.

The ATBU Students Union Government expressed their condolences in a message signed by Secretary Comrade Danladi Zakiru. The message described Naja’atu as a hardworking student who will be deeply missed by the university community.
