Fayemi, Sani, others mourn Ford Foundation director

Ekiti State Governor, Kayode Fayemi, has reacted to the death of the Regional Director, Ford Foundation, West Africa, Innocent Chukwuma.

WuzupNigeria had earlier reported how Chukwuma who died at the age of 55 suffered a relapse from his battle with leukemia.

His death comes less than 24 hours after Nigeria lost a prominent journalist, Yinka Odumakin.

Prior to his death, Odumakin was the spokesman for a Yoruba Socio-cultural group, Afenifere.

Reacting to Chukwuma’s death in a statement released on Twitter, Fayemi said:

“Still distraught from Yinka Odumakin’s demise, Bisi and I woke up to the most devastating shock of Innocent Chukwuma’s death.

“Inno was an outstanding colleague and friend from our days at the barricades. Our thoughts are with Josephine and the children. May he rest in peace.”

In the same vein, former Kaduna senatorial representative, Shehu Sani described Chukwuma’s death a tragic
“Innocent Chukwuma; another tragic loss of a patriot. Death hath taken away one of the brightest. May his Soul Rest In Peace,” he wrote.

Veteran Nollywood actress, Kate Henshaw said, “It’s hard & painful to refer to such a man of character, integrity, honesty and calm mien in the past tense.

Popular social media influencer, J.J Omojuwa described Chukwuma’s demise as a big loss to the country.

“Rest in peace @chukwumacleen. Love and prayers of strength to Innocent Chukwuma’s family, friends and comrades. This is such a big loss to the civil society family in Nigeria,” he wrote.
