Facebook has removed the page of Dauda Kahutu Rarara, a famous Hausa musician, after users reported him for posting content considered inappropriate.
Rarara, known for his praise songs supporting the All Progressives Congress and President Bola Tinubu, shared a new song on his Facebook page.
The song praised the Tinubu administration and claimed that there was no hunger or insecurity in Nigeria.
This led to a strong backlash from Facebook users, who felt that the song was out of touch with the country’s current struggles.
The outrage over the song’s lyrics resulted in the Facebook page being reported to Meta, which then deleted it on Sunday.
In a twist of irony, Rarara’s own mother was recently kidnapped by bandits. She was rescued after being held for several days, highlighting the severe insecurity in the country.
The removal of Rarara’s Facebook page comes as Nigerian youths plan a nationwide protest against economic hardship and hunger, set to begin on August 1.
