Everton beat Man Utd 1-0 to revive survival hopes

Published

Relegation-threatened Everton secured an all-important 1-0 victory over Manchester United at Goodison Park on Saturday to revive their Premier League survival hopes.

Ralf Ragnick’s side were equally hoping to re-ignite their Champions League qualification hopes after suffering a setback in the 1-1 draw against Leicester City last weekend.

However, it was Frank Lampard’s side who bounced back from their 3-2 defeat to Burnley that picked the win thanks to Anthony Gordon’s 27th-minute deflected strike.

Everton have now beaten Manchester United in the Premier League for the first time since April 2019 (4-0 under Marco Silva), ending a run of five such games without a victory (D4 L1).

The Red Devils have lost consecutive Premier League away games for the first time since January 2020, while the Red Devils have failed to score in an away league game for the first time since April 2021 (0-0 against Leeds United).
