EURO 2020: Telecom giant offers customers free data to watch England vs Italy final

A Mobile network operator in England, EE, is giving its customers free data to watch the country play against Italy in the Euro 2020 final on Sunday.

The Mirror reported that between 6.00 pm and midnight, the match against Italy – the first major final the Three Lions have reached since the World Cup in 1966 – will be streamed for free.

The company further offers to extend the freebies to those who have used up their allowance extra data to ensure they don’t miss out on the momentous occasion.

A text sent out to EE customers said: “We want everyone to experience the big match. So, any data you use from 6pm to midnight on Sunday will be on us. Stream the game on us.

“Stream the game, message your mates and tweet your predictions – all without dating your data. Already used up your allowance? We’ll give you extra data so you don’t miss out.”

EE website went on to explain that the offer is also available to BT Mobile UK customers, though not Business Connect, and that the offer will kick in automatically tomorrow night.

The mobile network company, however, warned that it may need to “temporarily throttle data speeds” to ensure everyone can take advantage of the offer but assures customers they should receive the same data speed available to them on their plan and “enjoy the game uninterrupted”.
