The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has intercepted 1.2 kilograms of Saudi-bound cocaine cleverly concealed inside phone chargers in Lagos. This incident follows a recent Enugu airport cocaine arrest that has drawn attention to smuggling methods.
According to the NDLEA, the drugs were discovered in 25 phone chargers during an examination of a consignment at a courier company in Lagos. The shipment was being prepared for delivery to Saudi Arabia.

The latest interception highlights another unusual method employed by drug traffickers attempting to move narcotics out of Nigeria.
Operatives dismantled the chargers during the inspection. As a result, they discovered cocaine hidden inside the devices and prevented the consignment from leaving the country.
The seizure formed part of a series of anti-drug operations carried out by the agency during the week.
In a separate operation, NDLEA officers also intercepted 500 grams of cocaine. The cocaine was hidden in the false bottom of a backpack intended for shipment to Italy.
The agency also arrested a 30-year-old Italy-based businessman, Joseph Cyril, at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport in Enugu. This happened after he allegedly ingested cocaine.
Cyril was placed under observation and later expelled 98 wraps weighing 1.510 kilograms, according to the agency.
NDLEA Chairman Mohamed Buba Marwa commended officers involved in the operations. Furthermore, he urged personnel across the country to sustain efforts against drug trafficking and distribution.
