Shatu Garko makes history as first hijab-wearing model to win Miss Nigeria Pageant
An 18-year-old model, Shatu Garko, has been declared as the winner Nigeria’s of the 2021 Miss Nigeria beauty pageant.
With her feat, she becomes the first model in hijab to win the national beauty pageant in the country.
The prestigious event was held in Lagos on Friday night.
The teenage beauty queen is from Kano State in the North West region of Nigeria.
Garko, who is noted for donning a hijab for her modelling career, is said to be a lover of horse race.
