Baba Ijesha: Court verdict victory for abused children, says Iyabo Ojo

Popular Nollywood actress, Iyabo Ojo has described the conviction of embattled Nollywood actor, Olanrewaju Omiyinka, aka Baba Ijesha, as a victory for abused children.

PUNCH Metro had reported that Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo of the Lagos State Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court, Ikeja, on Thursday, sentenced Baba Ijesha to 16 years imprisonment for defilement.

The judge sentenced the actor after he was found guilty of four out of six counts brought against him by the Lagos State Government.

He was arraigned on six counts of child defilement, indecent treatment of a child, sexual assault, attempted sexual assault by penetration, and sexual assault by penetration.

He pleaded not guilty to the charges but the footage of the incident was played in court.

Ojo, who had demanded justice for the victim, a foster daughter of comedienne, Damilola Adekoya, also known as Princess, took to Instagram to dedicate the win to abused children.

She wrote, “To all the girlchild and boy being abused, do not be afraid to speak up and speak out

“This victory is for you. Say no to rape.”

Reacting to her post, some users hailed the actress for her contribution to the case.

@maku_james wrote, “Why am I even surprised that the likes of Jide Kosoko are endorsing Tinubu? Same people who tried to gag Iyabo Ojo from defending the minor. These old men have constantly proven to be irresponsible.”

@sugarrbaby said, “God bless Iyabo Ojo wherever she is. Her involvement in this case pushed this thing out.”

@drpenking stated, “Now that Baba Ijesha has been convicted, God bless Iyabo Ojo for standing firm with Princess even when all other Nollywood stars like Jide Kosoko tried to bully her for her stand. We never forget.”
