EndSARS: Nigerian Army reacts to claim that Buhari is afraid to deploy soldiers
The Nigerian Army has reacted to a claim that the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), is afraid to deploy soldiers on EndSARS protesters.
The claim was made by political activist, Deji Adeyanju, who said that the Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen. Tukur Burutai, was prevented by the president from deploying the soldiers.
According to him, Buhari is afraid that such action could force the protesters to demand his resignation.
He said:
“From what I’m hearing, Buhari has already warned Buratai who’s desperate to send soldiers after protesters not to try it. Buhari is afraid that the protests might change from #EndSARS to #BuhariMustGo.”
He added:
“I have spoken to many of my friends and brothers in the military & the greatest favor Buhari can do for us is to deploy soldiers to stop the protest. Majority of them will join. EVERYBODY DON TIRE. Country wey monkey dey work but Na baboon dey chop.”
Reacting to his claims, the Nigerian Army described them as fake news.
