Elections: Supporters cheering Kwankwaso cause standstill at polling unit
There was a mild drama in Kano state today as a large crowd of supporters cheering former Governor of the state, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, on his arrival at his polling unit delayed his movement from his vehicle to the polling unit to cast his vote.
Kwankwaso, who arrived his Kwankwaso Tundu Polling Unit 005, in Madubi local government area of Kano, at 1:12pm to cast his vote in the presidential and National Assembly elections, had a swell time moving past the large crowd of supporters cheering him.
Security personnel had a hard time controlling the supporters who were all struggling to shake his hands.
The Senator, who currently represents Kano Central Senatorial District, dressed in his traditional white agbada and a red cap with white stripes, was able to cast his vote at 1:36pm.
Attempts by newsmen to speak with the former Governor and get his view on the ongoing election exercise was marred by loud chants from supporters.
Kwankwaso is also seeking re-election to the Senate under the platform of the PDP.
