Election officials on Saturday conducted a pre-election briefing for voters at a polling unit in Ikere Local Government Area of Osun State, outlining voting procedures and accreditation requirements ahead of the commencement of voting.
In an Instagram video shared by The Punch, the Presiding Officer and Assistant Presiding Officer addressed residents gathered at Osagburu Hall, Ward 10, Ugele/Arukun, Code 3, explaining the steps required for voter accreditation and ballot casting.
The officials informed voters that only those with their Permanent Voter Cards would be allowed to participate in the exercise and urged residents to confirm they were at the correct polling unit before joining the process.
They also explained that the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System would be used to verify voters through fingerprint and facial recognition.
According to the officials, voters whose fingerprints cannot be authenticated should not panic, as facial recognition would be used as an alternative means of verification.
They, however, noted that voters who cannot be successfully identified after the required verification procedures would not be accredited to vote.
The officials further advised voters to ensure that ballot papers issued to them were properly stamped, signed and dated before proceeding to the voting cubicle.
Residents were urged to conduct themselves peacefully throughout the exercise as election officials prepared to commence voting.
