Ekiti United players injured in road accident
Several players and officials of Nigeria Professional Football League side, Ekiti United, sustained injuries following the auto crash that involved the club bus on Tuesday.
The accident occurred when the team was returning from training in the Ikere area of Ekiti State, the club said via its Twitter handle.
Although the exact number of players and staff injured was not disclosed, the club added that they suffered varying degrees of injuries.
According to the statement titled, ‘Ekiti United Vehicle In Lone Accident’, no fatality was recorded.
The club blamed the accident on the slippery road which was caused by rainfall.
“Ekiti Utd team bus was on Tuesday (March 16) involved in a lone accident while the team was returning to Ado from Ikere after training. There were varying degrees of injury but no life was lost.
“Slippery road caused by rain could have caused it,” the statement read.
