A pastor, identified as Abiodun Sunday, has been apprehended by the police for allegedly murdering his wife, Tosin Oluwadare, in Ido-Ile, Ekiti West Local Government Area of Ekiti State.

Confirming the incident, DSP Sunday Abutu, the spokesperson for the Ekiti State Police Command, stated that the suspect was in custody, and investigations were ongoing.

The pastor, a former herbalist, had been posted to a Christ Apostolic Church in Ori-Oke, Ido Mountain, Ekiti West, where he had previously faced expulsion before the tragic incident occurred.

Mr. Samuel Ibironke, a step-brother of the deceased, made allegations against the pastor, stating, “After killing my sister, he called my wife, who is a health worker, to come and assist him, only for my wife to get there and discover that he strangled my sister to death.”

Reports suggest that the pastor was apprehended with the corpse while attempting to leave the town.

The traditional ruler of the community, Oba Aderemi Obaleye, condemned the killing, describing it as a “very sad development” that nearly led to unrest in the town.

Oba Obaleye called for a thorough investigation to ensure the culprit faces justice and to serve as a deterrent to others.
