Ebonyi: Two siblings drown in Ndibe sand beach
In Ebonyi State, two siblings Emmanuel and Christopher Chiaha, have reportedly drowned in Ndibe sand beach, Afikpo North Local Government Arae of the state.
The two brothers, newsmen gathered, had left their house around 3 pm to jog but didn’t return.
When they did not return after several hours, the community organised a search party made up of family members, relatives, well wishers and friends.
But they could not locate the boys. However, their dead bodies were later discovered floating on the river.
The circumstances surrounding their deaths remained a mystery.
Police spokesman, Odah Loveth, confirmed the incident.
She said it was a case of sudden and unnatural death.
Odah a Deputy Superintendent of Police,(DSP) said police was investigating the matter and expressed worry over the incident.
“Yes , on 2nd of February, Afikpo North Division reported that at about 10.30, one Chiaha Augustine Madabuchi reported a case of sudden and unnatural death where two of his sons Chiaha Emmanuel Chigozie 17 years old and Chiaha Christopher Madabuchi 13 years old got drowned where they allegedly went to swim at Ndibe beach Afkikpo about 3 pm after leaving the house on the pretence that they were going to jog .
“Police visited the beach, and their corpse photographed and deposited at the mortuary . Afikpo north is investigating but there is no mark of violence found on their body.
” I don’t know how they got drowned, what took them to the beach in this harmattan season, for now we are still investigating”, she said.The Nations report.
