#EAA79: Nigerians celebrate RCCG G.O, Pastor Adeboye, on 79th birthday


The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye is celebrating his 79th birthday today.

Adeboye who recently celebrated his 40th year anniversary as the G.O of the RCCG was born on March 2nd, 1942 in Ifewara, near Ife, in Osun State.

To mark this year’s birthday, the septuagenarian holds an annual praise concert, Marathon Messiah’s Praise (MMP)(79 hours of uninterrupted praise) at the Redemption camp, although this year’s edition will be virtual because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

This year’s edition is tagged “BEHOLD THE KING” and it is also held across the world – Africa, Europe, Asia, North America, Australia, Australia and South America; including Honduras, Canada, the United States, United Kingdom, amongst others.

Before becoming a preacher, Adeboye was a lecturer. He acquired a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics in 1967 at the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University), a master’s degree in hydrodynamics from the University of Lagos in 1969 and in 1975, he obtained a PhD in Applied Mathematics from the University of Lagos. He holds a position as Professor of Mathematics at the University of Lagos.

Adeboye got married in 1967 to Foluke Adenike and they share four children together namely: Adeolu Adeboye, Bolu Adubi (née Adeboye), Leke Adeboye and Dare Adeboye.

Thousands of Nigerians have taken to the popular microblogging site, Twitter, to congratulate and rejoice with Pastor Adeboye on his landmark birthday.
