Wrestling superstar and Hollywood A-lister, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, has been officially inducted as a Disney Legend, receiving one of the entertainment company’s highest honours.
Johnson took to Instagram to reflect on the recognition after the ceremony, expressing gratitude to Disney for the distinction.

I love storytelling and creating characters that hopefully play a small role within Disney’s massive ecosystem that bring a lot of joy to folks around the world – in theaters, the parks, the experiences. dj”
The honor was presented to Johnson at D23, Disney’s official fan convention. The event’s name references 1923, the year Walt Disney established the company.
Johnson, who also serves on the TKO board, was recognized for his contributions to Disney through his work across several productions. His Disney credits include The Game Plan, Jungle Cruise, Moana, and Race to Witch Mountain.
He joined a distinguished group of 2026 Disney Legends, including Anne Hathaway, Susan Egan, Alan Tudyk, The Jonas Brothers, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Eric Goldberg, and former Disney Chairman and CEO Bob Iger.
During the ceremony, Johnson also took a moment to celebrate his daughter Simone, formerly known as Ava in WWE, as she marked her 25th birthday. The audience joined in singing ‘Happy Birthday’ to her.
The recognition arrives as Johnson is reportedly reassessing his approach to Hollywood following the disappointing box-office performance of the recent live-action Moana remake.
