Dutch fitness coach tells Wenger why Arsenal players are always hit with injuries
Dutch fitness coach, Raymond Verheijen has told Arsene Wenger why his players are always hit injuries.
Wenger fielded Rob Holding and Calum Chambers as his central defensive pairings against Liverpool on Sunday following injuries to Per Mertrsacker and Paulist Gabriela.
Aaron Ramsey also picked up an injury during the match which the London club lost 4-3.
After the match, Wenger blamed the recently concluded Euro 2016 Championship in France as the reason for his side’s defeat, arguing that he had little time to prepare his players for the first match of the new EPL season.
However, Verheijen thinks Wenger is in denial of the main reason his players are picking up injuries.
The Dutch fitness coach took to Twitter moments ago to hit out at Wenger and revealed the main cause of repeated injuries to Arsenal players.
Below are his tweets:
The Arsenal injury pattern has repeated itself already for more than 13 seasons. So, clearly a structural problem. pic.twitter.com/eDB5uZKDgh

As the Arsenal injury pattern keeps repeating itself, it is a clear sign Arsene Wenger still has not discovered the underlying reason.

Number one reason for not discovering a structural problem is denial.
As long as Wenger keeps blaming external factors nothing will change.— Raymond Verheijen (@raymondverheije) August 15, 2016
The moment Arsene Wenger accepts the structural Arsenal injury chaos must have something to do with him it will be the start of the solution

In football it is not done to show top coaches the mirror which is actually sad for these top coaches as no feedback means no improvement.

It’s the job of the media to expose mistakes by coaches but journalists are more worried about keeping their relationship with coaches alive
— Raymond Verheijen (@raymondverheije) August 15, 2016
Staff members are even more responsible for showing the head coach the mirror. Unfortunately, most coaches surround themselves by ‘yes men’.

As Matthew Syed clearly explains in his book ‘Black Box Thinking’:
Organizations grow if they take responsibility by acknowledging mistakes.— Raymond Verheijen (@raymondverheije) August 15, 2016
Verheijen was a consultant at World Cup 2002, 2006, 2010 & 2014. EURO 2000, 2004, 2008, 2012 & 2016.
