Driver jailed one month for theft

A Grade I Area Court, Nyanya, Abuja, on Tuesday sentenced Aniah Justine, to one month imprisonment for stealing 19 buckets of paints worth N704, 444.

The Judge, Yahaya Sheshi sentenced Justine, 24, of Mpape village Abuja after he pleaded guilty to the crime.

Sheshi gave the convict an option to pay a fine of N10, 000.

Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, M. M Augustine told the court that between July 16  and July 22, the convict who was employed as a delivery man by  Quick Man Logistics Company located at Mabushi, Abuja stole 19 buckets of paint worth N704, 444.

Augustine said the convict sold 15 buckets of the paints to Chidozie Igwe and also sold three buckets to Jonathan Solomon.

During police investigation, he said, the convict confessed to stealing nine buckets of paint.

He said the matter was reported at the Mabushi Police station by Batholomew Beegu of shop 129, Mabushi Ultra modern market, Jahi , Abuja.

He said that the offence contravened the provisions of Sections 288 of the Penal Code.
