The police charged Hameed, who lives in Gwagwa, Abuja, with two counts of dangerous driving and failure to produce vehicle particulars.

The Prosecution Counsel, Peter Ejike, told the court that on May 5, at about 9.45a.m, the defendant drove a Toyota Highlander vehicle, with registration number ABC533TS, dangerously on the Jabi Airport Road and caused a collision.

He said the defendant collided with an oncoming vehicle with registration number RBC267BB Toyota Corolla, driven by one Akurago Joseph, of Paipe village, Abuja.

Ejike said, as a result of the collision, the two vehicles got badly damaged, Joseph and one other passenger sustained some injuries.

The offense, he said, contravened the provisions of sections 28 and 19 (1) of Road Traffic Law.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Magistrate Chinyere Nwecheonwu admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N200, 000 with one surety in like sum.

Nwecheonwu ordered that the surety must be a civil servant who should provide his or her first appointment letter, last promotion letter, confirmation letter as well as an identification card for citing and verification by the court officials.

The magistrate adjourned the matter until Sept. 12, for hearing.
