President Bola Tinubu has assured Nigerians that the country’s difficult economic period is gradually coming to an end, saying ongoing reforms are beginning to produce positive results.
According to The Punch, Tinubu made the remarks on Tuesday in his Eid-el-Kabir message to Muslim faithful in Nigeria and across the world.
The President linked the spirit of sacrifice associated with the Sallah celebration to the economic hardship Nigerians have endured under his administration’s reform policies.
“Just as sacrifice brings reward, I am happy that the sacrifices and efforts we have made over the past three years have yielded a more stable economy, making our country a preferred investment destination that will drive job creation and economic growth,” Tinubu said.
“The walk through the dark tunnel is over, and the light is here.”
Tinubu expressed confidence that the reforms introduced by his administration would continue to improve security and create more opportunities for Nigerians.
“By the Grace of God, the reforms we have diligently pursued will continue to yield improved security and greater opportunities for all,” he added.
The President also acknowledged the continued attacks by terrorists and bandits in some parts of the country despite recent successes recorded by security agencies.
“I am aware that, despite the best efforts of our security and intelligence agencies, including the recent elimination of a wanted ISIS leader, heartless terrorists and bandits still attack some communities,” he said.
“I assure you: you are neither abandoned nor forgotten. We will ultimately defeat all the forces of evil.”
Tinubu urged Nigerians, especially Muslim faithful, to pray for peace, national unity, and wisdom for leaders during the Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
He also called on citizens to embrace sacrifice, compassion, and selflessness, describing the festival as a reminder of the virtues exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim.
