Nigerian singer and music executive, Darey Art Alade, and his wife, Deola Art Alade, have survived a car fire on Lagos’ Third Mainland Bridge.
The couple shared the news in a joint Instagram post on Saturday, confirming that the fire happened earlier in the week around 4 p.m.
According to their statement, their vehicle suddenly caught fire while moving. The car was completely burnt, but no one was hurt, including their driver, who escaped safely.
“It was a shocking and painful experience, but we’re incredibly grateful that the driver made it out safely. No lives were lost, and that’s what truly matters,” they wrote.
Photos and videos of the scene, shared online, showed the burnt vehicle and people trying to help at the spot.
Deola explained that they were not looking for pity but wanted to use the experience to remind people that life is more important than material things.
“We’re choosing to remain thankful to God for protection, for perspective, and for the quiet strength to keep going,” she added.
Darey, who is well known for his role as a coach on The Voice Nigeria and as co-founder of entertainment company Livespot360, has not released a separate statement.
Fans and well-wishers have been sending messages of support to the couple, thanking God for their safety.
