The Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun has been chosen as the new chairman of the Southern Governors’ Forum. Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State will serve as his deputy.
This announcement was made by Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwoolu, who is also the chairman of the South-West Governors’ Forum, after a meeting at the Presidential Lodge in Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State, on Monday.
In his acceptance speech, Governor Abiodun promised to honor the trust placed in him and his deputy by their colleagues. “I pledge not to betray the confidence reposed in me and my vice by our colleagues,” he said.
Abiodun is taking over from the late Rotimi Akeredolu, the former governor of Ondo State. He is expected to provide the necessary leadership for the growth and development of the region.
The meeting lasted over five hours and was attended by thirteen governors and three deputies. However, Rivers State Governor Similayi Fubara was absent from the event.
A communique from the meeting will be released soon.
