Popular socialite and entrepreneur Pascal Okechukwu, widely known as Cubana Chief Priest, has announced his intention to oppose Peter Obi’s anticipated presidential ambition in 2027.
The declaration marks a notable shift for the celebrity businessman, who openly supported the Labour Party candidate during the 2023 general elections.
Cubana Chief Priest made his position known during a tense exchange with followers on Instagram.
The discussion began after several users questioned his recent political stance and his involvement with the “City Boy Movement,” a well-known support group for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
When asked directly whether he intended to work against the former Anambra State governor in the next election cycle, he responded without hesitation.
“Yes oh hope say no be crime cuz I worked for obi last election even as special adviser to an APC Governor,” he replied.
The conversation grew more heated as some critics referenced his past encounters with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Commenters suggested that the same administration he now aligns with had previously taken action against him and could do so again.
Unfazed, Cubana Chief Priest dismissed the remarks, suggesting that an invitation from the anti-graft agency is almost a mark of success in Nigeria.
He wrote: “if you never go Efcc for naija you never make am.”
The exchange further intensified when the issue of development in the South-East surfaced. One commenter argued that Peter Obi might have secured victory in the last election if prominent figures from the region had demonstrated greater unity.
Responding sharply, the businessman challenged the argument and questioned its relevance to tangible progress in the region.
“Shut up your mouth and go and support who you want to support as you like Biafra reach how many developments you don do for south East,” he fired back.
Meanwhile, the political realignment comes amid related developments within the Cubana circle. Obi Cubana was recently appointed as the South-East Director of the City Boy Movement.
The appointment, presented by President Tinubu’s son, Seyi Tinubu, has triggered widespread debate on social media over the political direction of influential South-East businessmen as the 2027 elections approach.
